July Wrapup

First of all, I have no clue how I waited so long to read this. Making every single POV actually interesting is such a hard task and nearly impossible but somehow Bardugo managed to do it.  Second of all, I AM IN LOVE with Kaz and I love how you actually get to see his history and WHY he did what he did/does.  Third of all, Matthias and Nina are also amazing with the incredible backstory and Matthias' character arc also brought a lot to the story and his character.

Daughter of the Siren Queen (Daughter of the Pirate King, #2)
Too predictable!! I didn't love the first book, but I thought maybe the sequel would be better. I was wrong! It felt like it was only about Riden and Alosa arguing non-stop, with a side plot of sirens and pirates. The author would kill off random people who you hadn't met, as if you were supposed to feel sorrow for them, and when actual characters got hurt, they didn't die, always non-fatal injuries. I was just so disappointed!

Let me start by saying I honestly love this cover so much, it's just so beautiful and pleasing.
I have been on a mermaid/pirate fiction lately and this book definitely did not disappoint. I enjoyed the story-line and characters, even though the continuous banter between Lira and Elian got made me a little annoyed. The ending was a little confusing, and seemed rushed. I secretly shipped Lira and Kye more then I did the actual couple, they seemed to get along better. I've seen a lot of people say it takes a while to get into the book, but I highly disagree.

This book was disappointing, I was frustrated by Tella and always contemplating things AFTER she did them, in almost every chapter. The ending was very complicated and didn't make sense. I'll definitely read the sequel, I just wish this book was as whimsical and fun as the first.

Legendary by Stephanie Garber Review

I think the author had an amazing idea for this book, beginning and end, but didn't know what to write in the space between. Lots of repetitive writing, I didn't realize until I was halfway into the book that there was THEN and NOW above each chapter, the writing not being descriptive enough to show that we changed times completely and the words being very faint. I wouldn't say I hated this book, it just was poorly written and felt like a only a little amount of time was put into it.

This book is cute, it's perfect book to get out of a reading slump, it helped me with mine. The friendship between Quinn and Nick was adorable. I did feel like the Quinn's friendships with the girls felt a little unrealistic.  I would've liked this book better had it been longer! I still really enjoyed it.

Norah's anxiety was well written, her habits of biting her nails or picking a scab were so true about people who struggle with anxiety. Luke is amazing and made sure not push Norah to do things she didn't feel comfortable doing.  In books with characters who have anxiety, they start doing things outside their 'comfort zone' and suddenly they can do whatever they want! "They're cured!!!" No, it doesn't work like that, and I'm glad the author got it right and that something in the book didn't magically make Norah be able to do whatever she wants.

It takes an amazing author to build such an amazing story and world, but Adeyemi did just that. I usually have a hard time reading fantasy books where the MC is going on a quest, to save someone or something, but I finished this 525 page book in less then 24 hours. The characters had personalities, they were all well written with reasons for their actions. The multiple perspectives were important to the story, they weren't just there for more chapters in the book. In spite of the little problems in this book, I cannot wait for the next one!

I was extremely disappointed by this sequel. The first book was fantastic! I was extremely bored during this book, I kept counting the pages until the end. The story is multiple POVs and most of the time it switched to different people's perspective so fast I didn't realize it until I was learning about someone else. I absolutely loved the first book, it was an amazing dystopian book, but this sequel was anticlimactic and a letdown.

Letting Go of Gravity
I could not stand Charlie in this book! Every time he said something rude or mean to Parker, it made me VERY uncomfortable. There was no reason for him to act like such a jerk. I hated how the end didn't have an ending, if that makes sense. It just said she's living life and texting Finn. I would've liked an epilogue a few years down the road, maybe her doing something she actually loved.

I'm surprised to say that I strangely enjoyed this. The authors had very different take on the story and somehow managed to make it funny and interesting at the same time. My first thought when it was said Gifford was horse, I was so shocked that I almost stopped reading the book at the moment, because sometimes things like that in books end up very awkward. I liked how each of the characters eventually turned into their animal (especially when Jane switched) showing they each have a little E∂ian in them all, even Mary. After reading this book, I feel very compelled to read the next book in the Lady Janies series, hopefully it will be as good as the first book.

I'm feel really disappointed in this book. Yes, it was a cool concept, but there was barely any plot and left me unsatisfied in the end. The romance is this book was poorly written and had me bored. I'm just sad that this book left me feeling like there should've been a few more chapters to tie up all the loose ends.

Warcross by Marie Lu
I had no idea I would love this book as much as I did. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5, is because the writing wasn't amazing. I felt like we would go and see one of Emika's memories, instead of having the author tell us. The reason I hadn't picked this book up is because I'm not into books that are about a virtual reality game, I tried to read Ready Player One and just could not get into it, however Warcross was the exact opposite, I enjoyed this book so much and I cannot wait for Wildcard!
