Children of Blood and Bone By Tomi Adeyemi Review

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi ★ ★ ★ ★ "They don't hate you, my child. They hate what you were meant to become." Children of Blood and Bone is set in a world without magic, with the king destroying magic and killing people would could use magic and even their children. Zelie ends up helping the king's daughter Amari out of the village with a scroll that could be used to bring magic back.  Let me say, it's extremely hard to write a fantasy book with such a detailed world and plot, but Adeyemi did it perfectly. I finished this 525 page book in less then 24 hours, which shows how invested I was in this story. The characters had personalities and most of all, reasons for their actions! At first, I hated the multiple perspectives, as soon as I knew who was who and why we had their POV, I ended up enjoying them all.  I loved the relationship that was starting to develop between Tzain and Amari. I feel like that's how the author...

Legendary by Stephanie Garber Review

Legendary by Stephanie Garber ★ ★ ★ Stephanie Garber's first book Caraval, had a whimsical and fun feel to it, but it seemed that the sequel was lacking that whimsical touch.  This book is told by Tella, sister to the main character in Caraval, Scarlett.  We pick immediately after the first book with Tella owning her 'friend' for  information he gave her on her mother. I did not find the whole mother  lost in the card story-line really grabbing my attention. Then we have Dante, who is Tella's (almost) boyfriend who wasn't very memorable from the first book, as I'd forgotten him. Tella receives another letter from her 'friend' telling her payment for the information he came give is due and he now wants Legend's true  name,  which she will know if she wins Caraval, the first person after she wins, will be Legend, also sending her two tickets to Caraval and tells her he will meet her on the first night of Caraval. Tella cannot get into ...

Mid - Year Book Freakout Tag

1 .Best Book You've Read So Far in 2018? Turtles All The Way Down by John Green and Made You Up by Francesca Zappia Both of these books deal with mental illness, and most times writing mental illnesses is really tough, but these two authors got it right. 2. Best Sequel You've Read So Far in 2018? Case for Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro I absolutely loved this sequel! It picked up a couple months after The Last of August and the author did an amazing job of tying up the loose ends in the second book.  2. New Release You've Haven't Read, But Want To?   Fawkes by Nadine Brandes  I've heard such amazing things about this book and I want to read so badly! I've requested it at my library, which is on order as of right now so hopefully I can read it soon!  4.Most Anticipated Release For Second Half of 2018? June Wrapup

★ ★ ★ 100 Days by Nicole McInnes I found most of the characters and story line to be very cliche. The small love triangle with the threesome seemed thrown in last minute. The writing overall was alright, although I'm not sure I would recommend this book to someone.     ★ ★ ★ ★ Study in Charlotte, The Last of August, The Case for Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro   I fell in love with the first book, so I picked up the sequels. The Last of August disappointed me and was VERY confusing, I didn't understand some of the story until the next book. I will tell you that The Case for Jamie, made up for the confusion and lack of actual plot in The Last of August. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan I  loved this book! It was an amazing story and interesting plot. I didn't put it down and finished it in one sitting. I definitely recommend it to everyone who likes a little mystery, but that's not the main focus.  ...
