Queen of Ruin by Tracy Banghart Review

40517898
Banished by Asa at the end of Grace and Fury, Nomi and Malachi find themselves powerless and headed towards their all-but-certain deaths. Now that Asa sits on the throne, he will stop at nothing to make sure Malachi never sets foot in the palace again. Their only hope is to find Nomi's sister, Serina, on the prison island of Mount Ruin. But when Nomi and Malachi arrive, it is not the island of conquered, broken women that they expected. It is an island in the grip of revolution, and Serina--polite, submissive Serina--is its leader.

Betrayal, grief, and violence have changed both sisters, and the women of Mount Ruin have their sights set on revenge beyond the confines of their island prison. They plan to sweep across the entire kingdom, issuing in a new age of freedom for all. But first they'll have to get rid of Asa, and only Nomi knows how.

Separated once again, this time by choice, Nomi and Serina must forge their own paths as they aim to tear down the world they know, and build something better in its place.

The stakes are higher and the battles bolder in Tracy Banghart's unputdownable sequel to Grace and Fury.

I wasn't nearly expecting to love and enjoy this as much as I did, but here we are and I'm already missing my favorite characters.

Okay, so last year I read Grace and Fury and I liked it, I thought the characters were okay and the plot was cool, but I thought it was a lot like Everless, but after reading this sequel I realized I was wrong.

The slow friendship into a relationship between Nomi and Malachi was everything and I was living for his reaction when Nomi asked him to marry her, I thought his reaction was adorable.
I really felt like both the sister's character arcs were written really well and didn't seem rushed. Serina's bravery never faltered and I was so glad to see that. Nomi was also a much more courageous character this book and it just made me happy to see her being more of a daredevil.

I felt like Banghart's writing really excelled in this book and she just gave it everything she had for this book, and it showed.

Overall, I read this book in less then 3 hours and I'm so sad to say goodbye to these characters.

The Gilded Wolves ARC Review

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi ★ ★ I still have no clue what the main plot of this book, and I have no idea why it's called Gilded Wolves. This was one of my most anticipated reads for January, and I was thrilled to receive an ARC of it. It was disappointing to say the least, which seemed to be how all my reads have been in January. It was a relief when I finally finished this book. It seems like the author was trying so hard to not make to not make this book like Six of Crows, that the more she tried not to, the more the book seemed to be like SoC. At throughout almost the entire book, I had no clue what was happening and nothing was vividly painting a picture of who was doing what and why. I do love the cover, but it doesn't really make any sense with why the title is what it is and why the cover is what it is. I just wanted to love this book so badly, and it had such potential, but ultimately, it let me down.
