5 Tips On How to Get Out of a Reading Slump

It always happens when an anticipated release has just come out or you have a ton of 'more important' things to do as non-readers say....the dreaded

READING SLUMP

You can feel yourself falling into not caring what happens to characters or just wanting the book to be over. Well do I have some tips on how to get out of a reading slump fast!

1. Reread a favorite book
Sometimes all it takes for you to get out of a reading slump, is to read about some familiar characters! I've done this with a few of the first YA books I read.

2. Watch a TV show or movie
You have to be careful with this one, because if you get sucked into the void (Netflix), you might never come out. That said, it's always nice to just enjoy some TV!

 3. Listen to an audiobook
You might not feel like reading, but it's nice to be able to listen to the book, anywhere...I've listened to audiobooks' whose narrators have made the books even better, with their amazing multiple voices.

 4. Take a break
It's completely fine to just stop reading for a while, you might not want to read, and that's completely fine!!

5. Go to a bookstore or library
Sometimes it's nice to just have a look at more books and add some to your TBR. Who knows, you might even find one that pulls you out of your slump!

Books I've Judged by Their Covers

Charlotte Holmes Series by Brittany Cavallaro This series was on display at my library and I picked up the first book, not only is the cover beautiful but the books are intriguing, have interesting characters and mysteries. .................................................................................................................................................... The Sun is Also a Star and Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon These books are gorgeous and as soon as I finished reading them, I immediately wanted copies for myself, if even only to display. I loved both books, they were such interesting takes on contemporary. .................................................................................................................................................... To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo This cover is to die for, the color of the background is gorgeous. I really enjoyed the book, I didn't know, but it was a modern retell...

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black Review

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ “This is what you wanted, isn’t it?” he asks. “What you sacrificed everything for. Go on. It’s all yours." Jude and her sisters live in the Court of Faerie, only they're outsiders, known as mortals to the rest of the Court. Jude wants nothing more then to belong, but many of the fey despise humans. As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself. I started reading this book last month and stopped because I just wasn't feeling it, but I'm SO glad I picked it up again! The Cruel Prince's plot is a slow-going at first, but once it does pick up, it's definitely worth the wait. The world is extremely well built along with a fair amount of spying, along with roya...
