The Museum of Us by Tara Wilson Redd Review

Sadie loves her rocker boyfriend and best friend Lucie, but no one comes close to her hero, George, her secret. When something goes wrong and Sadie is taken to the hospital calling out for George, her hidden life might exposed.

That description is gives you a completely different impression of what you think the book might be about. It was not anything like I was expecting. I thought it would be a best friend or even another world she might be a part of, but it was not.

I felt like this author tried so hard to make this book heart-rending, but in the process of doing that, it shows that she was trying extremely hard to make you feel for these characters. I think if every chapter wasn't trying so hard, it would've been easier to like or even feel sorry for these characters.

Henry is Sadie's boyfriend and Lucie is her best friend, both of whom we have no backstory or know anything about them, yet we're supposed to feel bad for them? The setup in this story was bad, and the flashbacks were made to make you get to know the characters, but ended up making me feel confused.

I felt like them keeping Sadie in the hospital for two whole weeks for just calling out a random guy's name is nowhere near realistic.

Why on earth was Dr. Roberts such an incredibly villainous character? If an actual doctor was dealing with someone like Sadie, they would not deal with them by continuously asking her over and over and saying she cannot leave until she talks! They would make the patient feel extremely uncomfortable, and want to leave.

Eleanor is another patient in the story who is there for one chapter and then suddenly she's gone. I feel like she should've been a bigger part in the book, maybe helping Sadie more with letting go.

Overall, this book was a major disappointment, and that makes me honestly so sad, I wanted so much to enjoy this book, but it just wasn't enjoyable.
